You might recall in our post on "10 items every man should have in his closet" we mentioned the Trench coat. Well we've decided to elaborate on it just a bit more and include the Mackintosh coat as well. It seems now a days labels are mixing up the two or seeing them as one and the same. Traditionally, the Trench coat is a double breasted, belted rain coat with its origins dating back as far as WWI & II. The coat was originally designed for the military by Burberry. The trench was worn by soldiers fighting and in the trenches, hence the name "Trench coat". The Mackintosh is also a rain coat only with a hidden center front button closure. Its very similar to the Trench in length and in purpose but the two have different styles to offer. The Trench with its exposed buttons and belt has more visible details while the Mac is more clean and concentrates further on the silhouette. You usually find Both the Mac and Trench in a Khaki or camel color but these rain coats have become more and more popular and can be found in almost any color of your liking. Below we have picked some sharp selections of both. Cheers. The Mackintosh And Trench Coat Feb 9, 2010
